AWARD for Product Design
International jury recognizes Morph˛ Rollerball for high design quality
LINCOLN, R.I., April 2002
The A.T. Cross Company, makers of fine quality writing instruments, has won the coveted Red Dot Award, considered
by many to be the "Oscar" of design awards. Cross received the award for its Morph˛ Rollerball Pen, a capless gel
ink pen featuring an adjustable grip. The Morph˛ Rollerball was one of 29 products chosen from 1,479 entries in
the 2002 international competition.
"Winning the prestigious Red Dot
Award underscores our commitment to cutting edge design and innovation," said Gregor Mittersinker, lead designer at
Cross. "We introduced a Design strategy that redefined Cross. This award gives us global recognition for the brand
as a leader in progressive lifestyle."
The Morph˛ Rollerball Pen is a
continuation of the Morph franchise first introduced by Cross in 2000. Morph pens are distinguished by an
adjustable grip that promotes more comfortable writing. The Morph˛ Rollerball Pen propels its ink refill while
simultaneously morphing" the adjustable grip.
A special exhibit of the
award-winning products will open on July 1, 2002 at the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany.
The Morph˛ Rollerball Pen will become a permanent part of the Red Dot Design Museum, the worlds largest exhibition
of contemporary design.
